Spring & Summer 2027 Intern – Security & GRC

The Security Intern will be part of the Workiva Information Security team. You will be part of the solution to security problems, create tools to help with security problems and help test the security of Web applications. This position might also contain the recommendation of security controls and liaising with other internal parties.

What You’ll Do

• Support to Incident Response in the event of an actionable incident confirmed.
• Document, investigate and report on information security issues and emerging trends.
• Ensure the tools and devices are managed and configured to augment our security monitoring infrastructure
• Creates tools to help with security/Compliance activities
• Help analyze the vulnerabilities on a regular basis in web applications
• Research and identify potential security controls to fix active vulnerabilities
• Develop remediation plans and schedules in cooperation with other teams
• Create queries and visualisations to help perform security and compliance activities.
• Cope with concerns of security that are identified during the production application.
• Perform analysis and trending of security log data from many types of diverse security devices
• Work with others in groups to collect data on security concerns, problems and ideas

What You’ll Need

Minimum Qualifications

• Be currently pursuing a degree program, preferably in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Excellent discretion and moral compass in dealing with confidential information and data
• Good communication skills, written and verbal and listening skills necessary for business networking
• Must be competent in one or more programming languages: Python, Java, SQL, Go and/or Dart
• Knowledge of vulnerability scanners or penetration testing skills (as applicable)
• Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and/or Google App Engine (GAE)
• Laboratory experience with the Linux/Unix operating system (OS).
• Then security products would not be the most popular item on the menu.It would be pointless for Security Engineering to focus: Ability to solve problems and come up with creative solutions within business constraints, good understanding of HTTP server, common web app vulnerabilities.
• Security Operations focused: Self-motivation and initiative skills to actively look for and solve security problems; initiative and social skills to network with technical people to obtain information about projects
• The travel and working conditions of the person.

Minimal travel

Access to reliable Internet access for any length of time where not at an office of Workiva.
