About the Role

The Virtual Preparatory Academy of Florida (VPA Florida) is Florida’s public, tuition-free on-line K-12 preparatory academy for students throughout Florida. The school facilitates live lessons, 1:1 lessons and lessons customized for the success of each student academically and culturally.

Seeking a passionate Virtual Teacher to offer an active challenging, supportive virtual teaching environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Retain obligations, relate to core responsibility.
• Host compelling and timely Virtual Sessions via a web conferencing system!
• Check students’ work and give frequent feedback and grades.
• Pupil and families to be seen regularly.
• Know and adjust instruction to the student based on student information.
• Differentiate classroom lessons for varied ability in learning.
• Implement research-based teaching methods for in person and online lessons.
• Foster a positive and supportive virtual classroom.
• Work together with the principal and staff to decide on student performance based on carefully evaluated data and information.
• Participate in activities, field trips and events as required within school.
• Gain experience traveling on an annual basis to provide needed state testing and other in-person needs.

Requirements

• Valid Florida teaching certificate, current, valid and in the area of study (standard certificate or bachelor).
• A general understanding of Florida State and/or Common Core Standards.
• Experience working with kids for 2 years preferred.
• Good Communication skills – verbal and written.
• Knowledge of Microsoft office (Word & Outlook).
• Skill in the dealing with private information of students.
• Be able to work comfortably with online learning technology.
• Perform all background checks (required federally and by state).
